HEROS Annual Award Presented – March 2018

Our Fraser Surrey Docks and Fraser Grain Terminals HEROS awards recipients Amy and Desmond were chosen at the annual awards night. These two were chosen out of all the amazing HEROS kids for showing the most growth in the four HEROS behaviors; Listening, Respect, Discipline and Fun! Hockey Education Reaching Out Society (HEROS) is a volunteer-driven charity that uses the game of hockey to teach life-skills and empower Canada’s marginalized youth. Fraser Surrey Docks in partnership with Fraser Grain Terminal are proud to support HEROS Hockey. Fraser Surrey Docks (FSD) is extremely pleased to announce the success of its partnership with the Fraser River Discovery Centre in this past Saturday’s RiverFest. RiverFest is Metro Vancouver’s biggest celebration of the environmental, economic and socio-cultural importance of the Fraser River. FSD supported the event by offering community members a paddle wheeler ride from the New West Quay to FSD to visit our terminal, browse through booths and partake in food and refreshments onsite. We would like to sincerely thank the BCMEA, City of Surrey, Fortis BC, New Westminster Chamber of Commerce, Operation LifeSaver – Railway Safety and Southern Railway of BC for hosting booths alongside FSD and the Fraser River Industrial Association (FRIA) which contributed to the success of this great event.

We were excited to host adults and children of all ages as they witnessed operations in action and learned about the importance of Industry along the Fraser River. It was a pleasure having them on dock to experience a day at the terminal and to provide the community an understanding of what we do and how our business benefits their daily lives.

We hope our guests enjoyed the boat tour and on site visit as much as we enjoyed hosting them, and look forward to future opportunities to welcome visitors to our terminal again.
