Fraser Surrey Docks LP, is the largest modern, multi-purpose marine terminal on the West Coast of North America. We have been serving the needs of our Container, Breakbulk, Project Cargo, Forest Products and Bulk customers in the Port Metro Vancouver and around the world since 1962. Our facility is located in the greater Vancouver area of Surrey, British Columbia along the banks of the mighty Fraser River.
Every year, Fraser Surrey Docks handles between 300 and 400 deep-sea vessels up to Panamax size. Service is provided at seven berths and is supported by 63 hectares (154 acres) of yard area and four sheds providing 30,654 square meters (330,000 square feet) of covered storage for weather sensitive cargo. Four dock gantry cranes with up to 80 metric tonnes of lifting capacity service container vessels and Breakbulk vessels when required. A hydraulically operated ramp services barge traffic at a separate berth.
Each year, millions of tons of cargo move through Fraser Surrey Docks and in 2007 the facility handled over 185,000 TEU’s of containers. A significant volume of export packaged lumber, together with a large volume of steel plate, coil, pipe, wire, rod, beam and other structural products are imported through our facility each year. Fraser Surrey Docks also handles many project cargoes, rounding out our expertise at operating a multi-purpose terminal. Quality ship stevedoring is available through our wholly owned subsidiary, Pacific Rim Stevedoring.
A large fleet of modern mobile cargo handling equipment is deployed on the terminal with a variety of special attachments to protect products during handling. Operators are given specialized training with emphasis placed on cargo care. The equipment is maintained at our on-site garage and maintenance facility.
Rail connections to our terminal are provided directly by the Canadian National Railway, Canadian Pacific Railway, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway (BNSF), and Southern Rail of British Columbia. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has 18,000 feet of it’s own rail car holding tracks adjacent to the terminal, permitting rail carriers to spot cars at their convenience.
We are also committed to providing our customers with the technology that enables them to access information about their cargo on a real-time basis through the Internet. Our Cargo Management System (CMSII) is a web based information system that allows our customers and staff to perform such tasks as booking freight, tracking shipments, planning vessels, viewing schedules, making rate inquiries and creating many detailed reports.
Connected to the World. Fraser Surrey Docks is committed to consistently meeting and exceeding the needs of our Customers.
To provide the most efficient, reliable cargo handling services to our customers in the safest way while upholding the highest standards for productivity, quality, sustainability and environmental stewardship.
