Fraser Surrey Docks' commitment to improving our facility continues into 2008 with Phase III of the container yard-resurfacing project slated to break ground in June.
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA) is committed to developing a safer, cleaner, more sustainable container
truck fleet to service the Port’s container facilities.
After coming to a tentative agreement with the BCMEA, the ILWU Local 514 held their ratification vote on the evening of February 24, 2009. The ILWU Local 514 has indicated that the ballots will be sealed and not opened until Friday March 06, 2009, when they will be counted and the results will be communicated. The reason for the delay in reading the ballots is that they are receiving mail-in ballots from various locations across the Province up to March 05, 2009.
The two parties reached a tentative agreement on February 13, 2009 that will be subject to ratification by their respective membership. In the interest of moving the ratification process along quickly, the parties have confirmed that a stop work meeting for ILWU 514's ratification vote of the tentative agreement will be held on the night shift of Tuesday February 24, 2009. The results of the ratification process should be available within a day of the vote.
The two parties have reached a tentative agreement that will be subject to ratification by their respective membership. Further up-dates will be provided as soon as they are known.
Further to our communication of January 23rd, the Mediators appointed to the above captioned have scheduled both Parties to return to the bargaining table on Thursday, February 12th at 10am and Friday, February 13th.
The BCMEA and ILWU Local 514 continued discussions today with Mediator John Rooney. The BCMEA provided a comprehensive response to the Union's proposals dated January 15, 2009. Notwithstanding this effort, no further progress has been made. The mediator will be in contact with both parties to set-up further dates.

Berth #8 construction is scheduled to be complete by May 25th, 2007.
